Chitra Poornima Sathish
Chitra Poornima started learning Carnatic vocal music at Temple of Fine Arts, Singapore, and received her initial training from
teachers Rajalakshmi Sekar and Gowri Gokul. She later came under the tutelage of renowned musician Bombay Jayashri who
moulded her and gave her a holistic and in-depth experience of music.
Poornima has performed solo and collaborative concerts in numerous venues and prestigious music institutions in Singapore,
Malaysia, India, and Australia. She was awarded the “Musiri Subramania Iyer Award” by Krishna Gana Sabha Chennai in 2012, and
the B-grade from All India Radio, Chennai.
Poornima has been fortunate to have teachers who have adopted personalised and unique teaching methodologies that addressed
every individual student’s needs. Poornima has sought immense inspiration from these teachers, and this has given her the impetus
to share music with others, especially children, attempting to make music accessible, fun and enriching.
